Logitech Quickcam 4000 on Windows 7 64bit?

Having troubles installing your Logitech Quickcam on Windows 7?

When you went looking for the driver on the logitech support webpage, you’ve probably noticed only Vista 64 bit support. You can choose this file and try to install it from there. Sometimes it will work, if not …When you get a warning saying the software isn’t compatible with your Windows 7 OS, you can go to ‘Device manager’ and ‘update the driver’ from there. Choose for this location on your harddrive c:\Program Files (x86)\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\QuickCam\x64\ (oddly enough the files got extracted in the (x86) folder while having downloaded the 64 bit Vista Driver. The webcam should be installed now.

Still not working? You can go to explorer and open this file: c:\Program Files (x86)\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\QuickCam\x64\QuickCam.msi. All files will be extracted and the Logitech software is installed on your system. Plug in you webcam. When a notice appears that your webcam still isn’t installed, click on it and connect to windows update for automatically downloading a driver (1.7Mb) from Microsoft. After this, you will be able to use your webcam with all the Logitech software.

  1. Hi. Just finish a clean install of the software on Windows Pro Ultimate x64. After download, you just have to make a right clic on the setup file, then choose the tab compatibility, then set it to “Vista compatibility”. Run the setup and miracle, it works fine. The setup was a bit long but now the software works perfectly. Tested with Skype and facebook Messenger.. (A french user)
